2008
~ Soma Source® ~
A Moving Journey Through 7 stages of Transformation
Wednesday Evenings, September 23rd - October 28th

Based upon the Soma Source® Map that we navigate through during our Foundation Year Trainings and our Surfing The Creative® Rites of Passage Adventures, each week will be devoted to the conscious exploration of one of the phases of our work. Our time will be a micro-recapitulation of the work that is done during our longer programs, a chance to deepen and integrate more fully into your dance based healing and awakening process. Specifically, this will be an opportunity to root more fully into your body, heart, and soul ~ fullness.

Although this is not a training for practitioners, this will serve as prerequisite credentials for those who one day seek to apply to our fuller Soma Source® Training Program, scheduled to begin in 2011.

Those who have fully completed at least one dance camp or year long process are welcome to apply. Please send in your payment in full and your short statement of intention for deepening your practice at this time. You will be notified immediately of your acceptance. Spaces will fill.

Meeting the Challenges Facing Children and Teens Today

Keynote Speaker: Melissa Michaels creates movement-based educational opportunities for people in all life's cycles. A social artist, dancer, mother and originator of The Blossom Project for young women and Surfing The Creative ® International Youth Camps. She creates community learning environments utilizing the expressive arts to establish both body and heart as basic resources.
    Melissa is offering 3 workshops:
Voices of Youth- Melissa Michaels with Jenny Caroff will inspire a discussion about the educational and social needs of youth, both in the Waldorf schools, and without. What, really, are the "problems" with youth today, and how can we potently support our young as they remember who they are, why they came to this world and how to actualize their emerging visions. (Saturday, 3/13, 11:15 - 12:45 p.m.)

Finding Ourselves in Movement and Rhythm-Join Melissa for an exploration into body-centered practices that support embodied living, parenting, teaching and grounding for the children. Through rhythm and breath, participants will have the opportunity to practice navigating the edge from center, moving from one's core. (Saturday, 3/13, 2:00 - 3:30 p.m.)

Sunday, 3/14, 9:45 - 10:45, Key note address: Adolescence is a fertile and critical time in the cycle of life. Our young people are calling out for presence, authority and blessing. By returning home to our authentic selves, to our vital life force, our warmth of heart, and our essential visions, we awaken our capacities to positively welcome youth across the threshold home to themselves. Melissa will share her journey as a mother, a mentor, and a movement educator working with youth. She will describe her international youth rites of passage program, Surfing the Creative ®, and invite participants to consider the power of body-centered practices for young people seeking healing, guidance and right actions in the world and in relationship.

Adults' Inner Adolescence- Melissa will provide participants with an experiential map for welcoming unfinished business of our own adolescent journeys. Through movement, we will open pathways for the healing and reintegration of our own dampened creative life forces, for stalking the essence of our own soul's call. (Sun. 3/14, 11:15 - 12:45)
